Ju-On / The Grudge

A chapter-aware Ju-On watch and reading order: the original Saeki curse, the 2014 reboot, the American films and their sidequel, Netflix’s different origins, and licensed prose, manga, games and stage adaptations. Nonlinear films are divided at meaningful changes of period; disputed clocks remain qualified.

WHERE TO START

Ju-On / The Grudge: watch and reading order

Choose the original Saeki history, reboot, American films, Origins or the crossover. Meaningful chapter jumps are separated so earlier events do not disappear behind a movie’s main date. The American 2004–2006 sidequel overlaps its predecessors. Exact Japanese calendar reconstructions and inaccessible print interiors remain qualified.

Story order follows events within a history. Release order follows when works came out. Use the filters below to compare them; estimates and earlier scenes stay labelled.

Open the full timeline ↓

The Curse films lead into the theatrical films. White Ghost / Black Ghost remain inclusive connected stories; their exact interleaving with the Saeki cases is not established.
